I was born at home in Shelby County, TX on October 16, 1942, the youngest in a family of six children. I graduated from Shelbyville High School (1960), Lee College in Baytown, TX (1962), Lamar State College of Technology, (which is now Lamar University), in Beaumont, TX (January 1965) with a B.S. degree, where I met Pamela M. Dougharty. We were married on April 17, 1965, and we both later graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with Masters Degrees. After marrying Pam, I regularly started attending church with her, and it was through Pam and 7th Street Baptist Church, in Nederland, TX, that I found God and His acceptance. I was a high school mathematics teacher at Nederland High School for five years (Jan.1965 to May 1969), and was the first counselor to be hired by Victoria College (1969), where I worked for 34 years. Different positions I held were, Counselor, Dean of Men, Director of Student Activities, and later retired in 2003, as Director of Counseling Services. Pam and I have a daughter, Andrea (Dry) Koenning, married to John Koenning, who has a daughter Hope and a son Chance. We also have a son, Glen Dry, married to Cherylnn (Ross) Dry, with three children - Allen, Bailey, and Casey Dry.
